8:15am Worship Service April 26, 2020

I thought I would share today's message.  I know with the social distancing stuff going on, churches can't gather like they did prior to the virus (at least that will likely be the case until the stay at home orders end).  However, one thing my church is doing is posting the services on live stream or on youtube.  Been trying to get into the habit of listening to sermons from my church as well as other preachers (i.e. Robert Breaker, Charles Stanley and others).  Will share sermons I watch.

It was an interesting sermon.  Here is the quoted passage from Scripture (from Bible Gateway NKJB)
"Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For [a]this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Walk in Light

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the [b]Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather [c]expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are [d]exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.” " (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=ephesians+5&version=NKJV)

This is a pretty weighty passage.  I know I am not perfect when it comes to sin.  I know the Holy Spirit was convicting me on somethings.  For example I can covet things sometimes (wanting things someone else has, for example game systems other people have, professional grade drones some people have, like the mavic pro, probably too soon to be considering buyin a second drone anyways among other things)?  Also idolatry can take on many forms too (such as obsessions, relationships where God is not first priority, addictions, and the like).  By the way, is the holy spirit convicting you on some things in the sermon?  Feel free to share a comment below.  By the way if you are not saved and are struggling with sins like the ones listed in the passage and worried that you might not go to heaven, then there is good news bible teaches that we are all sinners and deserving of death (both physical deaht and spiritual death), but that is why God sent the Son Jesus Christ to this world so that he can die on the cross for our sins (yours and mine included), was buried, and rose again on the third day.  Those who put their trust in Jesus Christ (in otherwords salvation by grace through faith) become save.  Ephesians 1:13 even teaches that we become sealed by the holy spirit once the moment we believe and become saved.  I got saved during my first year of college myself.

Will share more sermons posted over time.
